Basic Mage Guide Empty Basic Mage Guide

Post by Zero-Kun Wed Feb 15, 2012 7:35 pm

Jay's Brief Mage Guide
Intro:
Hello everybody. This is my one upon many guides I’m aspiring to make. I am making this guide in order for other mages to follow and to familiarize themselves with the class’s potential. I haven’t played mage nearly as much as glad but I still believe this guide will be sufficient enough to noobs<3. If you’ve found this guide useful, like the post and tell others. Now let’s begin.

Weaknesses:
• Low Defence and HP
• Almost no new Spells between level 7 and 5x's
• Can't really solo at low levels

Strengths:

• Highest Damage output
• Have lots of fun in the later levels
• Very strong new spells between level 49 and 67
• Good asset in PvP
• mages are useful

Basic Mage Guide Classinfo

Common stat builds:

full INT:

Advantages : impressive M.Dmg.
Disadvantages : Low crit & aim.

This is probably the most common build, many people love it and use it. In fact the low Crits can be adjusted with item shop(coming soon). Good build for PvP

SPR/INT:

Stats : 25 SPR / full INT

Advantages : Impressive damage & increased crit.
Disadvantages : less aim & evasion.

This is an “OK” build, I don’t find anything wrong this this build necessarily other than the low dex. That is just my bias though, please don’t follow it Smile. It is also a good build for pvp & boss raids.

Build INT/DEX

Stats : 50 DEX rest INT

Advantages : Hardcore damages, lot's of Evasion and Aim.
Disadvantages : Less Crits

I would recommend this build to many mages. Not only do you get amazing evasion and aim (DEX) but you also have destructive M.Dmg (INT). This build is perfect for PvE which means player vs. Enviroment

Full END

Advantages : Lot's of HP and Def.
Disadvantages : Very low damage, you’ll become useless.

That build is stupid, just don’t do it.

END/SPR/INT

Stats : 25end / 25 SPR / full int

Advantages : useful at low level
Disadvantages : "Low" damages.

What I think: Now this build isn’t useless. It is similar to one of the builds mentioned previously. I find that 25 end could be put somewhere else to better the character. The 25 END doesn’t give much hp at all and honestly, mages should just get max statted end gears and leave the stat points for end at 0.

Full DEX

Advantages : Impressive Evasion & aim.
Disadvantages : Disgraceful damage.

What I think : Almost as stupid as full END. Don’t do it Wink

Some skill empowerment's:
Magic Missle: :if you can, decrease its cool down time. Keep @ lvl 1

Fire Bolt: 2nd spam skill, do not enhance this one either. No skill points added.

Magic Blast: 5 skill points on the power, cool down

Fire Blast: 5 skill points on power

Lightning bolt: No skill points

Frost Nova: 5 sp on power and 5 sp on cool down

Inferno: 5 skill points on cool down *This skill is not able to be empowered!*

Lightning Blast:None

Magic Burst: None really needed. If you want to you can put a few on power

Frost bolt: None

Frost Blast: Do Not Use. Keep the skill on frost bolt, frost blast takes time to cast. The faster the combo the better.

Debuff: No skill points

Purge: No skill points

Mind Drain A.K.A Fear: Increase 5 skills on effect.

Stifle: 5 on effect

The End!

You can have high hp/def with the right gears. Don't need the end.

Hmm, Well, Personally, depending on the role of the mage, and since this is a pserver not os, having full END doesn't drop your damage by much at all, and I personally like having the extra hp/def, great for solo leveling at higher lvls. Its what I constantly change my build to since I find my hours don't allow me to play much with other people, being +10gmt and all :/.
However, that's just my opinion.

You're right about OS, but you're damage will be significantly less than a mage the same level. Basically what i'm trying to say is that in most private servers one doesn't need end to be a solo mage. All of that can come from gears & jewelerry.

You can get enough Hp/Def with the right gears, and since this is a private server extenders and charms are gonna help out a lot with Hp and def, so I like Takiashima idea of focusing on mages main strength which is damage. Without damage, mages are pretty much useless, so why not make there damage stronger instead of raising there Hp.

True, you dont need full end to go solo, I just believe it helps a lot, especially for players who may not have the best of gears etc. But with the dmg, I've personally tested 150 int, I hit like 1-2 more on average, so it doesn't bother me at all loosing that damage.

The Iv'e notice is that you can't really tell the difference it makes, but it actually makes a bigger difference than we notice, I personally like 25spr then full int since its 5% more crit and with other costumes the gears give a bigger increase to crit.

Yes, you're right. I did this without knowing what the level cap would be, so I had few skill points to work with.
